boil a tablespoon of dishwasher detergent - the kind for use in dishwashers - in a full dutch over. leave it over night. scrape the goo out.

Try soaking a dryer sheet in pot overnight. Start with hot water.
I've burned food in an aluminum pan before and put hot water and baking soda in the pan, bring it to a boil and using a small, non-scratching flat spatula, scraped the pan. After getting most of the goo out, pour in sink, immediately put cold water in and let soak for a few minutes. Then generously sprinkle Bar Keeper's Friend on the wet pan and let it sit for about 1/2 hour. Scrub with a teflon pad in circles. You may need to use a little elbow grease for the stubborn spots, but you pan will eventually come clean. Aluminum will leach into acidic foods, such as tomato sauces or citric based foods.
