The hose gets caught around the drain trap almost every time I use it, what can I add to prevent this?
Try Coke cola ! or Bleach if you have tried to use Suction and it has n't worked.

First take off the P trap under Meath and make sure grease hasn't built up in it then if you have a shop vac put the hose on exhaust side and blow your drain pipe out or use a garden hose. On a regular basis I take our sink sprayer and put it flush in the sink drains and spray pure hot water that way for 30 seconds once a week and that keeps our sink draining fine. Good luck and God Bless! Uncle Jeff!
Pour 1/3 box of baking soda down the drain. Then pour some vinegar down. Immediately cover the drain with a damp cloth and press down. The pressure should push the clog though. If a double bowl sink cover both drains with a cloth. If this doesn't work then try plunging or the clog may be further down the line and rodding would need to be done.
We are using a combination of vinegar and baking soda, occasionally. Works well and is friendly to MOM EARTH
If you don't care if you use chemicals, you can always use old fashioned Drain-O or any similar product at your hardware store. Personally, we use baking soda and vinegar.
Plunger first, then go for boiling water. If that doesn’t help, follow with a snake down the drain. If you have a garbage disposal, reach down the drain and make sure nothing is stuck
I had a problem with my kitchen sink last year. Tried plunger, Drano, baking soda and vinegar. The only one that did anything was the baking soda and vinegar, it opened it for about 10 minutes, than wouldn't drain again. Had a neighbor that is a plumber come over and it ended up the clog was actually so far down in the pipe that it almost was to the outside sewer connection. We had a pipe going from the sink to the basement that you could open a large bolt so we could see if the snake was going down and not to the outside faucet. The pipe going up to the sink was so spotless from the baking soda and vinegar that he said he was impressed and would have to remember the recipe. That was the last of the clog, and I reclean the drain every month or two to keep it open as he suggested to me to do. Follow letting the baking soda and vinegar sitting for about ten to fifteen minutes with a gallon of boiling water to make sure to rinse everything down.
