sprinkle the carpet with baking soda
Tried soaking in white vinegar and drying on grass in the sun. Don't leave out over night
Baking soda and vinegar. Wait for a good sunny day and put it in the sun to dry.Make sure it's dry before bringing it back in or you'll just have the same problem again.
home depo had odoban gets rid of everything... can wash clothes, disinfect etc.... used it behind a moldy old dishwasher no musty smell, the raccoon removal guy usus it to disincect all areas he works in great stuff even lavender scent
Wash it in hot with a vinegar rinse. Toss some vinegar in the dryer before running.
Rub baking soda into the rug. Make sure it gets all the way down because the smell is all the way down. Rubbing it makes it absorb better. Vacuum. Put in sun. Sun is the best deodorizer-sanitizer there is. The longer you can leave out the better. Make sure to turn over and get the bottom also.
On my basement carpet, I sprinkled equal parts of borax and washing soda with a few drops of essential oil. I let it sit overnight, then I vacuumed. It still smelled a bit so I repeated it, and let it sit for a couple of hours. It took away the smell and kills the germs and mildew.
Concrobium spray works well too, and is non-toxic and virtually fragrance-free.
