Whats behind my rock fireplace, & how do I remove it?
It's huge with quartz rock. I'm so afraid to tear it out, because I don't know what's behind the rock, & what to do after it's gone. The garage is on the other side.... See more
Honestly, when a mattress goes wall to wall, it is hard to get out of the bed. If someone has to get out of bed in the middle of the night, they will most likely disturb anyone else in the bed as well. A smaller bed would probably make more sense.
A queen should be adequate for most couples.. unless they are very large people ... try using wall mounted or hanging lamps so side tables can be as small as possible and a low dresser in the closet with the hanging rod as high as possible will leave more space for the bed.... or a bed with drawers will give more space too .
I have a king size bed in my home but when I go to visit my friend her guest room has a queen size bed and my brother and sister-in-law's guest room has a full bed. We are not there usually more than a week and find we are not in the bedroom except for changing clothes and sleeping so we don't mind sleeping in either bed that is not as large as ours. Makes your return home and to your own bed that much better. I would give your guest room to move around in the room and have room for their suitcases.
Many hotels have double beds. Unless all of your friends are jumbo size they should be able to tough it out in a double bed. You might let them know in advance so they can make other plans if this doesn't suit them.
My husband and I have a similar problem. We remind potential guests of the sleeping conditions, letting them decide if it would be too much. However, staying for free in the beautiful mountains, they should consider a cozy bed as part of the total experience. (I do keep a couple of sleeping bags as reserve.)
Even a double bed for guests would be ok, if not they can find a hotel. The room is small and needs a few amenities, so fix the room up like you are in it only a little simpler since it is used only as a guest room. Most people won't care what size it is since they don't have to pay for it. They won't be in it for more than sleep anyway. You could even go with a sofa bed in double or queen size as long as it has a decent mattress, you then could use it for a den or craft room when you don't have guests.
why not try inflatable mattresses with the base built in? Get 2 double size and depending on how many people will be staying determines how many to inflate. And u can use the room for anything as u won't have a bed in the way
1 thing that may help is to consider a Murphy bed. You could put a queen in so there is some room to get up for the toilet and while the guests are awake, the bed folds up against the wall.
