Should we cut our hosta leafs down in the fall or in the spring

It would be better to let them die back to the ground as this helps the plant for the following season.

If you mean “Hosta” leaves, just leave the plants alone. Then in the Spring just before the new growth pops up, gently rake away the dead brown leaves from the former year.

Once they are totally dead in the fall, you can leave them for some cover for the winter or you can cut them and take them out. Either way it is not hard to do. Different people have there preference, but it is ultimately up to you which way you want to do it. As long as you let them die back first, they will be good next year.

Once they start turning yellow and dying out, you can cut them back in the fall, or you can just let them turn brown and they will eventually be flat as though almost nothing was there.

Let them die back naturally. The leaves are giving nourishment to the roots. In the early spring you can transplant them or let them come up naturally. They are an easy plant to grow.
