A good friend who is a farm lady told us to put down a toothpick when we planted new plants in our garden. She said it would stop grubs from chewing off the plants. It doesn't get rid of them, but it stopped the damage they did. As we dug in the soil and found them we did kill them, but we did not worry about them at all after that. We had no more problems. For some reason just one toothpick per plant right against the stem prevented them from damaging the plants. It worked!
