It depends on how large and heavy the tapestry is. You can use tacks, velcro, Command Hooks etc. I have a medium sized one hanging on a tapestry rod, which is similar to a curtain rod.

Hello Linda :) There are several ways to hang tapestries, and there are 2 links below to tell you about them. The preferred way USED to be to attach (CAREFULLY) a pocket on the back of the tapestry and then slide a metal rod through the pocket and hang it, but since the invention of velcro, museums now hang tapestries as described in the first link I am providing.
