what plant
http://www.plantskydd.com/. you have to be diligent with it. We had to spray a bit more often than it says, but it works.
Ask a barber or hair salon to give you the hair clippings they sweep up and put them into used panty hose. Then hang it in the area where the deer are. They hate the scent of humans and will stay away. Works for other large animals like raccoons and bears, too.
The only thing I’ve found is to put wire around plant or high fence the yard.
We ended up using deer spray, but for rabbits. They both hate the scent. The only thing is you have to replace it after it rains, but that's true of many other choices except a fence.
