We use a jig saw and cut the boards off just inside the nails
Unfortunately, there is no easy way. I just finished a pallet project(convertible sofa/ lounge) and spent many hours prying, pulling, and praying to get those dreaded nails out of the boards with out cracking and tearing up the wood I needed to re-use. I will say , on the last day i was working, it had rained the night before and theafter wood didn't seem to want to crack as bad
I use a circular saw, MUCH faster.
