Hello, I use vinegar and very hot water to kill the weeds around my steps.
you can only use that if there are no plants or lawn.If the weeds are in the lawn or garden use hot boiling water directly on them
You got it Marsha. Of course a vinegar and soap solution IS chemicals.
Boiling water, epsom salt and boiling water, vinegar is what I use. Lots of pets and visiting little kids in my yard, plus I try to be as chemical free as possible.
If you put down vinegar it will kill anything it touches, including grass. It also sterilizes the soil, so it won't grow anything. Use only where you know it won't destroy anything like on sidewalk and driveway cracks or if you plan on killing off where you want to start a garden and will be amending the soil really well.
Pour hot water on weeds, wait till they die two days. Next soak with the garden hose, wait one day, then put your hand as close to the ground as possible, and put the weed in your hand and pull. The weed and all should come up.
Vinegar and salt.
Vinegar will kill most weeds but you want to get to the roots if you don't want them to come back. If you want to remove weeds permanently you can douse the plant with bleach, but you won't want to grow anything there again. (Great for patios, walkways). But bleach is also toxic.
