Consider leaving fireplace grey and paint walls a light shade of grey. Leave the paneling as is till you see how you like the combination of fireplace and walls and then decide if you need to paint the paneling. If you want to stay neutral, pick a color that is a combination of both the gray and brown ("greige"). If you want contrast, pick a bright color in the "warm neutrals" family like salmon, tangerine or even buttercup yellow.
