I want to paint a cupboard that has been spray painted purple with a winter white chalk paint I would like some ideas thanks
Absolutely! However you may have to sand the piece down some to give the chalk paint something to adhere to. Good luck!

If you know for sure that the piece had not been waxed, then yes. I learned the hard way and did that once - ha ha! I agree with Mary. Probably the safest thing would be to sand and clean well first. Good luck!
