Did you draw on paper or canvas or wood or what? At the very least you need to decide what kind of paint you want to use: acrylic or watercolor. What are you thinking about as an end goal? Share!
Sand, put on base paint like Rust-Oleum which prevents rust and then free- hand it or stencil a design on, following with your color(s) to fill in. Rust-Oleum is recommended.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.krylon.com/projects/outdoor/metal-mailbox-and-wood-post/&ved=0ahUKEwjg-uW_rfHWAhXK8YMKHW_bBp8QFgg6MAM&usg=AOvVaw1_WAntlYUwcPC3oB65Jx_u
I agree with drawing your design on paper first. Make it the same size as the mailbox. When you get your design completed on paper, transfer it to the mailbox. Whatever medium you use, be sure to seal it so that your hard work is protected.
find a stencil and paint away
Make/buy a plastic cover. I've seen the best paintings done this way, then if you make a mistake you can correct it or start over. Also can take it somewhere that is easier to paint. I would have to use a template or a stencil over a solid color, cause I'm no free hand artist. :-)
Getting a mail box cover sounds like a good suggestion. Use paint for outdoors, hopefully with ultra violet protection and clear coat it after dried.
Thx U, going to try it.
