I wasn't going to answer but your plea for help was just like those poor kids in the TV commercial.

That fridge is so over the top busy, beside putting a mildly patterned wallpaper that coordinates with the rest of the kitchen I don't think there is much you could do. But these kinds of opportunities are where the magic happens Jodi. I always look forward to another one of these in my house but from a small snapshot of your kitchen it would be difficult to make any meaningful recommendation.

In keeping with you other decor, Home Depot has cute metal signs ( ex. cafe', eat, gather, thankful) that would fit flat against the wall. You can add one them, just above where your frig door opens. You can add a vinyl quote. You can also create your own sign. Hometalk has lots of help to offer. Maybe add a vinyl chalk board or paint a chalk area by your frig for a grocery list or menus or family messages.

Cut 1x1 's into 5 ft sections 2 of them. Then cut 6 1x1 ;s into 12 inch ..Then nail together like a ladder ..Makes a great spice rack. Hang on wall closer to doorway as not to interfear with frig door ..Paint or stain .I loved mine .Then string with ribbon smal half inch.Tac them end to end so bottles cannot fall off ....any color will do or match the paint color on your wall.

I found a large poster and frame that was flat enough to not be in the way. I love the picture and how it made my room look so much better. That is an easy fix, but if you could use extra storage space you can do what I suggest (below):

IF you need storage space, you could make open shelving by cutting areas out between the studs (of course making sure there is no wire or bracing where you want to do the work). Buy thin plywood for the back and some boards that are approximately as deep as your shelves will be with enough to make shelves. You will need to drill holes for pegs to hold the shelves in place, and trim pieces to cover the area between the cut area of the wall and the new "cabinet" (or you could make side-by-side cabinets. You can then look for interesting items to display, or better yet use the shelves for storing needed kitchen items in pretty or interesting containers.

Why not buy some of the metal or wooden words or phrases you see out. Hobby Lobby has some beautiful ones. "Family"; "Taste and See"; things like that.

Put up a message board that will take magnets and put everything on your refrigerator on this board.....will need to be flat against the wall or your refrigerator door will not open.

First take everything off the refrigerator, from the top of the refrigerator and from the top of the cupboard. Even though you are asking only about this corner it would help to see the whole kitchen. What my eye sees is some kind of a border around the opening in the wall. It would be painted or be paper. 4" to 6" wide. (you can just test drive this idea) If you want the wall to be a focal point, the refrigerator can not also be one. Since I love china, I would suggest that you hang plates here, but it could pan lids, pictures. Or you could put two shelves up from the opening (one shelf could be lined up with top of cabinet on wall.) We have the same "stuck in the corner" refrig situation and it is annoying not to be able to open both doors all the way. Good luck Jodi. Do look at decorating magazines. One can learn an awful lot about design from them.

Put a big clock or mirror up there.

  • Rose P Rose P on Oct 18, 2017

Yes, chalkboard paint. With or without a wood frame, you could even paint a frame on the wall.

One of two things - 1 hang a beautiful mirror or a collection of mirrors, #2 make a family bulletin board and hang it on that wall.

  • Sheila Sheila on Oct 19, 2017

What about creating a new memo board for all your refrigerator display by nailing 1 or, even better, 2 rimless cookie sheets to the wall. I would hang them side by side but offset them wit's one hanging lower than the other. Use round magnets with colored stones glued to them so the look is more uniform.

I 🙋 go with the Memo Board! A paper store might have those ready boards mildly sticky (like PostIts) and you can put in notes for whatever... 😝 Good luck and pick ur best suggestion above.....

Is all the stuff on the refrigerator necessary? Makes the area look messy. I would go with the bulletin bd. suggestion and move refrigerator stuff to the bulletin bd. after sorting out and getting rid of what you absolutely don't need or want. Bulletin bd. frame could be painted a complementary color to kitchen wall/trim. When my son was small, I covered a bulletin bd. frame in fabric to complement colors in his room - red, white and blue.

You have so many ideas from Everyone! A lot of them are awesome. I see a cat clock, the one from the 70's where the eyes and tail move back and forth. Good luck.

Try hanging a linen calendar, put 3 small shelves up with kitchen items on them. Knick naks such as a extra salt n pepper shakers, a juice glass, whatever you like. It could be totally different.

Anything on the wall will just add to the "clutter look." Clear off refrigerator, top of shelves. Then take anyone of the great ideas mentioned and problem solved!

  • Lhaskins Lhaskins on Oct 21, 2017

Have you thought of using stencils on the wall. Maybe a poem or thought provoking words. If you simplify the front of the fridge you could stencil the wall with a cascading plant or something similar. If you google 'wall stencils' you might get some ideas. Good luck

How about a wall shelf which hangs above the opened door of your refrigerator and have some decorations on the shelf, or paint a mural on the wall if you are artistically inclined. Just a thought

  • Lin6417041 Lin6417041 on Oct 21, 2017

Pretty much anything you add to the wall will be overshadowed by the messy looking fridge. Put some of the "indispensables " on the side of the fridge, and run with any ideas given here.

I see you have an Eiffel Tower in the top corner. I'd remove all the clutter on the refrigerator and put an Eiffel Tower or other Parisian decal on the wall.

  • Cathy Pascarella Mauro Cathy Pascarella Mauro on Oct 21, 2017

You can put up a phrase such as " Live, Love, Laugh" for example. You can either paint it or purchase decals.
