Use a Folding Screen........
Hello Patricia! Many homes lack an entryway. Our first home did, too. My husband built a see-through divider, wall-to-ceiling, basically a shelving unit on which we placed colored glass and knick knacks. It was erected perpendicular to the front door. The see-through style allowed the light from the large picture window to shine through. If your living room is large enough, you could even erect two and have them parallel to the front door — one on each side of the front door.
