white vinegar and water 50/50 a dab of blue dawn dish soap and a dab of jet dry.Use a microfiber cloth
I like to use a very thin cornstarch paste with water. I wipe it on with a damp cloth, let dry and buff with a lint-free cloth. It makes them sparkle and streak-free. Don't apply in sunlight.
Vinegar and water... to check to see which side of the window the streaks are on... dry the window up and down on one side. And then wipe side to side on the other side of the window.
If they are really dirty first clean using "Bounty" paper towels with "Joy " dish soap in warm water."Joy" for some reason does not leave a film (is also great for washing a car) and "Bounty" paper towels hold up better ( don't fear apart). If not very dirty skip to step two. Step two is clean with white vinegar using large basket style coffee filters. Vinegar is a great non-streaking window and mirror cleaner and the coffee filters are lint free. Newspapers are an alternate choice to coffee filters. Save used dryer sheets to lightly wipe over dry clean windows and mirrors to keep diet an dust from settling on surface. Used dryer sheets also work great on the blades of ceiling fan, floor fans and desk fans to keep down dust build up. Discovered using coffee filters for Windows and mirrors when I was working at a a fast food establishment; they switched from urn type drip coffeemakers to prepackaged coffee pods so we were left with thousands of coffee filters and I came up with the idea to repurpose them as window and mirror wipes and for cleaning all the stainless steel in the place. Hope this idea works for you.
You could spray on a solution of water and good old fashioned white vinegar. Then use old newspaper to wipe clean. Using newspaper will not leave any streaks or lint.
I use a ammonia water wash and then a vinegar water rinse to make sure all the soap and grime is gone before drying with newspaper or lint free cloths. My 97 year old mother learned this from her mother and now I do it. Windows sparkle!
