I started my blackberries in my new home 4 years ago, they were basically just twigs. This year is the 1st that they have produced any fruit! I also have 3 acres of property, we border on a Nature Preserve, and get every critter imaginable eating our plants/bushes & berries. I suggest trying Miracle Grow, I don't typically use anything like that, but this was the first time I did, and it helped, I also moved my berries into large wooden containers, to help move them up onto my porch. If thats feasible for you maybe give it a shot? Or experiment with 1-2 bushes? Do you have proper drainage? If you replant in a container, put down a rocky layer to allow extra drainage, preventing root rot. I hope this helps a little, I'm in the upper Northeast, so my climate is probably different from yours. Happy Growing! š

Blueberries like acid soil. They are using the sawdust to make the soil more acid. You should probably get a test kit to find out where your soil is on that spectrum then use sulfur if needed to boost the acidity. Another good thing to use is fertilizer for azaleas. Azaleas like the same kind of soil as blueberries.

Amen to that brother. My blueberries have been in for a couple of years and they don't seem to be doing much. Then again, pear trees that I planted 5 or 6 years ago did very little until now. This year I have pear bushes. They exploded in growth only out not up. As I tell people who wonder how I do it and say I have a green thumb, "I just keep shoving things into the ground and hope for the best." Plant food is more like vitamins than food. So if the plants are doing okay and need a little boost the azalea food would be the thing. I'm just using a lot of mulched leaves around mine but when the plants really start to take hold and go I will be sprinkling that particular plant booster around.
