As it gets older and the leaves begin to die, the leaves curl on a tomato plant. The leaves can also be burned by the sun. The plant can also be overwatered. It needs good drainage, and direct sunlight part of the day. Fertilize with a tomato fertilizer, but not too much--that causes the plant to "burn". And without healthy leaves, the the tomatoes will "scald" or break open in the sun.
