Do you want to buy concrete bricks or create your own mold and pour your own cement? To make a straight edge for a garden, use a chalk line. Attach string to a short pole at one end of your garden. Pound a pole into the other end, then pull the string tightly to the second pole. You should now have a straight line of string. If this is a new garden or you want to adjust it, you can measure out from the edge of the house to find the location of the poles. Make sure they are both the same distance from the house. (Repeat in other areas of your garden as needed.) Once your strings are in place rub them heavily with white chalk. Now hold the chalked string taut, lift it up and let snap onto the grass below. That should give you a straight line. You're ready to go if you are buying concrete or regular bricks.

Dig down at least 4 inches and across 8 inches. Tamp down the soil to create a good base. Using stakes, create a form of hardboard/plywood on other side of the trench. This is your form. It should be 4" tall and attached to the stakes with screws.
Pour the concrete to the top of the form. Level and let set up. Remove the forms in a few days and voila, a concrete border.
