Blue, completely dry, then white, with light distressing. The blue will come through as a shadow, with white being the predominant color. Or go a dark brown-black to go with the metal trim. PLEASE post your project on Hometalk.com. It's bound to be gorgeous. 😇💖
I don't have advice to offer to your question about the head board but I want to comment on what a gorgeous bed it is.
If your walls are going to be colonial blue, I wouldn't paint the bed that color as it would disappear when set against the wall. What about white washing the bed or painting it white and then lightly sand the details?
I think that would come out nicely!
I agree with Rosanne, My thoughts exactly...........
French Country means white or off-white. Paint it with chalk paint - will take about 2 coats and then seal with wax or my favorite water based polycrylic.
I would paint it white, and then get blue linens..... https://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Laura-Ashley-Saltwater-Blue-Reversible-3-piece-Cotton-Quilt-Set/9810656/product.html?refccid=UFFLP3ICKVXLFFSA4IDWZEIWB4&searchidx=24&keywords=&refinement=

Then I would select the blue for the walls, otherwise you may have a hard time getting a comforter set to go with the colonial blue. I would use latex interior paint in either an eggshell or satin finish if you want to make it special do a strie paint technique to make it look like silk.
How about painting it an eggshell color than do paint in blue a stencil of your choosing?
Your bed is beautiful, just remove the draping from the foot board, and live with it for a while after you have painted your walls. If you choose to paint the bed, others have good suggestions. While I love chalk painted pieces, I think it will go out of fashion and you want to keep your bed timeless. You could also just darken the whole piece with gel stain, or paint the beadboard section creamy white then darken the rest of the wood frame with a gel stain. Good luck post and show us when you are finished.
I never even thought of that Thanks for the ideas
I thank you all for the ideas. This is such a great community. GOD bless you all
That sounds nice I have ordered general finishes java gel to practice on a cabinet door I picked up at habitat for humanity. I want to do my kitchen cabinets but am kind of scared. I just might do the bed if all turns out well.
You don’t waste time! Best wishes and be careful 😇💞
I believe white chalk paint would look stunning
