Is this space in a basement room that is used everyday, and where you need access to the items in the closet? Or is it in a seldom used area?
This cabinet is part of more extensive woodwork. I would either paint all the wood with a whitewash chalk paint in white, or completely paint it with a Teal or your signature color, again in chalk paint. That will cover up any stains and scratches or missing paint when you take off the iridescent tape. Shine up the current hardware or paint/replace them with burnished silver or copper. Suddenly, you will have a stunning focal point. Best wishes 😇💞
You don't say what this room is used for which would help immensely in how to decorate it. First, if possible, I would remove the mirror. It looks like it's blocking usable shelf space. If you want a mirror there, put it on the wall to the left. Second, I would paint the closets and cabinet above the shelves. I would paint the back wall of the shelves a brighter, contrasting color. Third, I would add two artificial plants above the closets. Potted ferns would look nice or something else bushy to take up the large empty space.
Decorate what?
What are you looking to accomplish?
I would paint all of the storage area white to give it a clean look. Change out the hardware to something more updated. If you want the mirror, I would install it on the inside of the longer doors.
You could also add trim to the door.
Put trim on doors to make it less flat & paint. Make it look like kitchen cabinets. Good luck. Do all cabinets.
