What needs doing? Or do you mean a craft?
Maggie, I'm not all that far behind you in age and do a lot of projects, usually several at once. It always depends on need and the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" tends to apply. If something needs repaired, you have a DIY project and a chance to make it better than it was before. If you have a vision for improving something, you have a DIY project.
My big project right now is a cabinet over the toilets between two bathrooms. Did I need it? No. It was a vision of what could be. The cabinet doors with heavy glass are kicking my butt right now because they may have exceeded my skill and equipment level, but the first of four is almost ready to hang.
It is your vision that will bring projects to light Maggie. If you know what but don't quite know how we may be able to help you to flesh out your vision. Sorry, I seldom lend tools. ;-)

are you talking for Christmas or just in general?

String some cereal or popcorn and hang in a tree to feed the birds. I used to make these when my kids were little. They are grown up now and guess what? I went back to string cereal again. The birds need extra food during the winter.
Maggie, I am enjoying doing all sorts of arts and crafts, by myself and with my youngest grandchildren. I am 68 and partially disabled, mostly mobility and balance. I have a lap tray I use when I’m working in bed. I use a wood TV tray when I can sit up. I can paint things even in bed because I just put small amounts of paint in water bottle lids, and the cut off bottoms of water bottles. I use the bottom half of water bottles as water holders for cleaning brushes. I use a lap tray to glue, cut, trim, build, repaint anything handy. I have made several things out of toilet paper rolls, including silly aliens from space, a used golf ball sleeve, and pictures using flattened rings from the to rolls. Some people have made complicated wall sculptures from the rings.
I realize people keep asking you questions, but if you could tell what you are interested in or what supplies and collections you have, I’d love to give you lots of ideas. Also, at the top of the screen where you asked this question, type in the search bix something like “pill bottle crafts” or “crafts with buttons”, you will probably find lots of crafts. I also like to go around my house taking photos of the fridge front, a messy desk top, a pretty flower, whatever might inspire me later. My cleanup and rearrangement of my husband’s messy bathroom counter got over 153 thousand views! And my repainting of an empty black pepper box to make a cinnamon-stevia box has gotten about 7. You just never know. If you have at least 4 clear photos of your craft or project, and can describe what you did, you can post on Hometalk. 😇
