Add string. tape, or yarn and tape decorations to the middle of the top of a window and let hang. If you have bookcases, hang from the inside of the books here and there or if you have posts. String garland (popcorn, cranberry, or fake greenery around the windows and let your ornaments hang from the garland. Once you get started you'll get more ideas.
I agree with Julie, she mentioned everything I wanted to!
i love placing my colored glass balls in a pretty bowl with some greens. Also hang some off a chandelier!
WE put some in clear vases or bowls and set them with other decor on the end tables or mantle. Some people hang them on a string and hang them from the curtain rods across the windows. I place some on the mantle with the garland and lights to complete the Christmas decor there.

You can use them to make wall decorations and wreaths. The are also pretty in a silver bowl or a wire decorative sleigh. I use cotton balls with my sleigh to make it look like snow.
I'm down sizing and won't have room for a tree. I am going to display my favorite ornaments on wreathes. I have sturdy decorative metal hooks for hanging them, and will reinforce with wire. Inside only.
Make a string of garland with them, or several strings, and hang them together across the wall.
I put nice ones in/on candlestick holders. Put the hanging knob in the candle hole. Use various heights and finishes to create a great display.
They look pretty in a large glass dish or vase as a centerpiece.
