Need ideas for organization of laundry room

Another Hometalker did this & I copied it. Use washi tape to decorate my washer & dryer. I hung a copper pipe along one wall to use to hang clothes. I also hung small buckets with S hooks to store dryer sheets & Laundry pods. Good luck!

We have the same setting in our house. I've set up shoe racks on the right and put baskets to store things. I'm not sure if you have space, but here are some of the hometalkers'ideas.

Shelving across the back and maybe a cat ramp for Slinky up the side to a small platform for either scratching or a bed. You can probably make all of it from pallets...just look for heat treated pallets, otherwise new project wood from a big box store. I would also mount a closed cabinet above the washer for detergent storage. Add some pictures to the mix or old signage. You could enclose it with louvered doors, a curtain or just leave it open.

You can put a shelf across with a clothes hanging bar under it to hang clothes on as they come out of your dryer. Put some baskets on the shelf and something decorative on the wall like a print or decal maybe. For the top of your dryer, I have found that a quilted topper or a fancy doily on a darker cloth stop the drive by deposits.

My laundry room is a tad larger with tall double cabinets above--I can only reach the first shelf and even that's a stretch with the depth of the washer and dryer. My husband made a roll-out shelf unit on casters to go between the washer and dryer, which keeps my laundry supplies close at hand.

You appear to have more space between your washer and dryer than I do; mine is just wide enough for a bottle of detergent. My roll-out shelves are very similar to the one in the attached photo; I keep laundry supplies on top shelf, cleaning supplies on the lower. You can buy something similar at Amazon, My husband preferred to make mine; he had the wood and only had to buy casters.

Can you install louvered doors?

I think cabinets above would totally solve your problem and if tall enough provide long term storage for infrequently used items. It is certainly possible to reach lower shelves if you install cabinets just above the height necessary to open the appliance tops.

Great little area - that a lot of us without one would envy. I would put up some shelving or cabinets (even form a Habitat for Humanity Restore)over the washer and dryer. You also need a little color - painting the walls. Add some art work (thrift shop / yard sale).

i painted my area a light blue and hung two upper cabinets with the clothes rack/bar in the middle. Decorated with a beach theme and a glue-on poster of an open window with curtains, looking out to the beach/ocean. Makes it feel like you are at the beach with a view.
