You crush them like you get the shells at Feed store.
you do not want to create 'egg cracking' chickens -- so you need to crush them -- put in a plastic bag, roll with a rolling pin or glass jar, mix with the feed; mineralize Oyster shell grit is also very good -- serves dual purpose - available at feed stores or pet supply that has a good 'bird' section.
Make certain to crush thoro..as if you put out half shells..they will start pecking their own eggs for a treat! Yes, they need the calcium and minerals in their diet!
I had Chickens that started pecking their fresh eggs after I gave them crushed shells. I wouldn't recommend it unless you blend to a powder and add to food or water
dry them and toss them in the food processor or blender along with some feed.
Mine are just broken into scratch feed. My neighbor gives me the empty eggs I give her. Break them finely.
