What can I do about these invisible bugs that are biting us???

I’ve only had the odd one appear in the bottom of bags of flour ... not inside but on the outside of the bag itself nestled in the paper bag folds at the very bottom. Naturally, I get rid of the flour just in case. I now keep my flour in the freezer because I live alone and don’t bake often except for birthdays and/or Christmas. I’ll be interested to see any answers to your question. In the meantime, don’t keep old kitchen items such as flour sitting around too long and pull out pots and pans and vacuum in the corners of kitchen cupboards that aren’t used often.
We had these several years ago. I had to throw out everything that had them and start over with flour, sugar, cereal, etc. I now store my flour and sugar in large glass jars with lids - like the photo below. You will need to vaccuum and wipe out with a good cleaner the cabinets and dishes, etc. Before replacing with new food items. By eliminating their food source - they will not come back. Throw out all of the food.
When you get a boxed product home you should place it into a plastic or glass container which has a tight lid. If there are bugs in the product this will contain them to that one box or else they can spread like wildfire if you do not seclude them.
Sorry, you need to toss all infected food. Check every bag, box and container. Go cabinet by cabinet, empty and wash, (includng all pots, pans, etc.), then replace. I also use fresh bay leaves, but not fool proof. Any grain based item gets placed in an air tight container. I keep flour, cornmeal, etc. in the freezer until a few hours before use. It is a process, but worth it.
I experienced these weevils also about thirty years ago because I had a wee bag of open flour that got hidden behind something and it went rancid as these things do after a long time.( All flours and grains have an allowable amount of insect parts) Yours could have come from the store that way too, but it is very rare nowadays. Gah and gag because we found them when I went to make popcorn for friends and they poured into the pot!!!! Naomie is absolutely correct plus it is necessary to disinfect the whole cabinet, floor, roof, shelves and sides. Check throughout any cupboards beside the infected one too. Then keep each flour or grain sealed and it never happens again. The bay leaf trick works well inside the containers and on top of flours. Your sealed containers are good to go in your cupboard again too. Try to not have this cupboard right beside the heat of the oven if you can. Cheers.
Just had this happen to me a few weeks ago. Took everything out of the cabinets, cleaned them very well, if something wasn't air tight I put in a clear zip lock bad. Bugs are gone now. But you should throw out whatever the bugs are in. Use plastic bottles (like peanut butter jars) to store food in. That way you can see what you have and how much you have.
Use some roach fumigating bombs. Then change markets.
Have used dried bay leaves in the cupboards for years. Haven't found any bugs so far.
I do change them like the smoke alarm batteries. I don't know how long they last but probably any strong herb would work too. My Mom told me to use them because her Mom did...but I we never had any bugs.
