Can I use two store bought blankets to make a weighted blanket
I want to make a weighted blanket for my adult son. He is a “big guy” and wants a queen size blanket. Purchasing enough fabric for a blanket that size isn’t in my budget. But I was thinking about purchasing two fleece blankets and sewing them together to make it. Is this a smart option? Any input is appreciated
I use these pellets to make blankets and soft toys/laptrays as they are washable at cool temperature ... Dry rice is an alternative but unsure if can be machine washed
Go to a thrift store and get a quilt the size you are looking for. Then sew a new fleece blanket (the same size) on each side of the quilt. THe fleece blanket purchased at a discount store probably less expensive than purchasing the fabric
I bought two moving quilts sewed them together around an old comforter I bought at estate sale. I made a duvet cover out of two king sheets. Worked great. then put them
I know you want to make a weighted blanket but I did see some yesterday at Walmart for $10. Not sure of the size but thought it rather inexpensive. May be cheaper on Black Friday if you can stand the crowd.
The premade ones are smaller than a normal throw. I bought the 20lb & we don't really got together under it, mine was $65 as well. The children's is $12 I believe. Seeing two together is better than one that is too small. You want one that is 15%-18% of body weight.
However, I have slept much better with it as has my hubby! Even though if it gets between us it is a fight to straighten out. I suggest ties on the ends & middle edges of blanket along with ties inside the washable cover you make!! I've been chasing mine within the cover it comes with.
Best of luck!!
You should give him a burrito blanket that is a weighted blanket and cost very low.
