Buy them and have someone put them in for you
Most are no different from any other light fixture. Sorry, cannot help with the "short". You're gonna need a step stool or a tall helper.
a ladder will help
Hi Camille. Do you have a small ladder or even a chair you can stand on to replace the bulbs? Otherwise maybe someone can come and replace them for you. Good Luck.
There is a pole (I'm also short) that is made for replacing light bulbs. It has several attachments for different projects. I think I found one at Home Depot.
Use a step ladder.
My mom was only 5'1" and had stepstool like this:

And a lightbulb changer like this:

And when she could no longer do it on her own she called me on a neighbor to come change for her.
A step ladder works. I am short too.
As a 68 year-old, 5'6" woman, I don't consider myself "short"; but even at my height I can't change the lightbulbs or clean the ceiling fans. That's why the new step ladders are such a great invention. Step ladders with the safety rail across the front are lightweight enough to move on my own to clean the fixtures that are mounted to 10 foot ceilings. Buy a safe ladder and good luck!
Call a friend with a ladder
May as well invest in a ladder which you'll find useful for years to come to change light bulbs, clean high cabinetry, wash tall windowos, etc., etc. I don't like to depend on other people to do things around the house, so my ladder has served me well over the years.
