How to make a sturdy frame for poster.

I guess it depends on the type of frame you're interested in. You could just build a box out of 2x2s and then wrap the poster around it and staple it on the backside.

Just another idea, I found terrific frames at consignment shops estate sales and thrift stores.

Prices that would even cover the mat or glass just consider throwing out the existing art inside the secondhand treasure. I agree custom framing is ridiculous. I’ll buy a second had frame for the glass or mat and often create my own art for the inside.

I have built my own picture frames for years. Either using stock molding and even made my own molding. To make chunky frames I would layer different size moldings.

MUCH cheaper is getting a mat cut to bring the poster UP TO the standard frame size - or a custom size frame is about $80 at pictureframes.com

Do you really need a frame? I've had posters on my wall with a stock poster holder that is Plexiglas (I think). The poster fits in between a "folded" Plexiglas holder, the you hang it. Have you looked at craft stores or places like Walmart or Target? I've seen poster holders in some of those places. You might even find a frame or possibly just the pieces of a frame that would cost a lot less. Wishing you the best.
