I don't think planting succulents is something very difficult. Just use everyday ordinary earth and a plant pot.
I use soil made for succulents, or add some sand. Remember these do not need watering frequently.
OK let me just say that I love them because they are so easy to maintain if you do not over water. Succulents need to be misted only when inside your home to really thrive and to not kill roots. Outside air drys them so if it rains they survive fine because air drys up the water around roots. My biggest advice is don't plant them too closely. Ours were outside,I'm in northern Illinois, so we brought them in and they are so crazy big. They did well outside but inside they have taken off. So allow plenty of space. Ours need to be divided into two containers at this point maybe even three. But they look so good especially when it's gloomy outdoors which it will be for the next 5 months. Don't shy away from them. My son purchased them and had no clue about them and so we have been learning together. But it's basic. We don't feed them anything just don't over water them they are like orchids very iffy when roots are concerned. That's it. Just mist if indoors if out allow nature to deal with them. I mean you have seen them growing in between rocks. So that says alot. They are hardy.
