Would you consider painting the tiles?
could you cover it with a large rug? or even laminate that matches your wood floors? the laminate flooring now looks like wood and is easy to install
How about miss matched wood planks with some that are similar to your wood?
There is also ceramic tile that looks like wood, a relatively new product. You get the durability of ceramic, which is likely why the tile was originally installed there. I would pick a color that contrasts with the existing wood rather than trying to get close to the same color.
What about a laminate stone...they really make some nice ones today!
Hi there, it seems if its impossible to match your wood floors have you considered putting in a wood floor with a totally different look, maybe run in the other direction with a threshold between? Then it will look deliberate that you put in two different kinds. Good luck!
Talk to a floor installer before giving up on matching the wood. We took down the dining room-living room wall and installed a header to give us a great room. There was no hardwood floor where the wall used to be. A floor installer was able to add new oak and refinish the entire floor to look seamless. I love the new look.
Take a look at the new vinyl plank or tile flooring which is now available in a lot of different patterns and colors. It actually looks like wood with easy maintenance.
