Do you want wall covering?
Is this just a laundry room or an entire kitchen?
To cover this, get a PVC pipe cut to fit the whole length of the room, a closet rod hanger fixture and inexpensive sheets or sheers in the color of your choice. You can close the entire section off or leave the middle bit open.
To prevent fly-aways, add a weight (in the case of wood cabinets) or magnets (in the case of steel appliances) to the bottom hem
I believe if it were mine, I might remove the stand under the dryer, paint everything the same color (probably white) and have the countertop extended across the top of the dryer and a removable/hinged piece made for the top of the washer for a more cohesive look.
TRY THE SHEET OR LIGHT WEIGHT FABRIC AND IT KEPT GETTING HUNG IN THE DOORS WHEN OPEN. CANT REMOVE THE UNDER DRAWER BECAUSE THE WAY THE DRYER IS . NOT LOOKING TO REMODEL JUST COVER THE ENTRANCE WAY. THANKS FOR ANSWERING .
Accept the fact that your entry is also your laundry and be thankful you don’t have to go to the laundromat. Decorate it like any other room in your house; if allowed, paint the cabinets white and the walls a light and cheery color; brighter ceiling light or add a lamp for atmosphere; finally a large ivy beside the sink, a colorful rug and eye catching art on the walls and you have an inviting entryway. Own your space!
Thank you for your answer. I do own the space. I am very bless to have this area in my home but wanted to reach out to people to see what wonderful ideas that may have so when I open my front door they or my guest don't see the laundry .
Is it possible to glue thin sheets of luan wood (or even wood patterned “MAC TAC”) to the front of washer & front/sides of dryer to disguise them?? Cut a pc. of wood for tops when not in use & stand slabs in front when appliances are needed. The wood can be left natural or painted to give a lighter feel to the “laundry room”. Add one over the sink also if you need folding or work space. Drape same coloured cloths over the backs of the machines to completely disguise them. This keeps your window lighting & isn’t too costly.
Thank you Sharon for your thoughts and I might look into something like that. Have a great day.
What is the view if you reverse the door?
It would open up to wall with a closet door and a wall. Still would be better but it's a custom door and not sure I can change it. But that would be better. Thanks!!!
I would get some wainscoting like on the counter and glue it to the washer and dryer, to make it look like the cabinet extended. As for the tops I would paint them like people do for a granite look or what ever your counter tops look like. You would have to paint the dryer because it is higher than the counter but I would make it look like a back splash.
Thank you for your answer. I light the wainscoting -
Can you move the washer to the basement? I don't see a dryer?
Can you switch the location of the washer and the sink? This might take some effort, but that would put most of the appliances behind the door. Maybe having them together would be easier to disguise?
