I wouldn't glue it cause if you ever want to make a change or sell the house, its gonna be a huge headache. I would put verticle wood furring strips from ceiling to floor every 16" on the studs screwed in. Then fasten your boards to the furring strips with a nailer.
I believe you would want to use screws into studs to make sure they don't fall off.
