It's only out if you don't like it or you are tired of it. Be careful not to follow trends, but follow your personal taste and style. Not sure what the trend is instead of subway tile. I know faux tin and tin backsplashes and glass backsplashes are popular.
Why worry about that? If you want to do something in your home, do it. What's "in" or "out" doesn't really matter. You are the one who lives in the house, right?
What is "in" is what you like. Don't let someone else tell you what is right for you and what is not.
Subway tile is still being used on flip it shows. It may be out to some, but it is a classic that stays. Some are just putting it up different ways, like diaganol.
who really cares about whats in or not? are you doing this project for your self or getting the place ready for market? if for market...your realtor will know what is selling and what is not....and give advise as to what needs done to sell it fast. if you have no plans to move and like subway tile.. put it up. it is a classic treatment.
Standard traditional white subway is going out of trend, but replacing it is glass, colored tile (square, or subway shaped), as well as marble, and quartz. White kitchens being the trend now, many designers are bringing in color to the space with a backsplash. Here is an example:
I don't think Subway tile will ever be truly "out". It is a classic!
if you like something who cares if this is not the latest style! Styles come and go! If I like something I LIKE it๐
Trends come and go. Whats old is new and whats new is old. If people really followed trends we'd be remodeling every week. A lot of trends are created by manufacturers that sponsor magazines, TV programs, etc. just to sell a product. Trends I follow are my style, my taste, my likes, and my budget.
