We put tomcat, sold at Home Depot, in the holes and it got rid of the fairly quickly. Just be careful if you have animals.
Try using bubble gum. There is a great article on the internet that gives step by step instruction. This remedy has been around for many years so it may work.
We normally have a lot of ground squirrels.... one year we waited until they went into hibernation and used the "Gopher Getter" cyanide bombs... there were a lot less the next spring.... they will and do come back however... so a "container" garden might be your best option... or several semi-feral cats.
We like to use the galvanized horse/stock trough/tanks as our garden containers... relatively inexpensive ($90 for a 4 ft X 2 ft X 2 ft at Lowe's or Tractor Supply) and sometimes available used.
Hi, This is full proof, get fresh cut hair from a salon or barber and put the hair in the holes, works every time. Good luck!
Rather than poisoning or otherwise killing creatures who are actually beneficial to your garden, it is better for everyone to repel them with fowl odors, buried fencing, certain plants, or castor oil. http://willtaft.com/another-take-on-gophers/ has some helpful and humane tips
If you or if you know anyone who has snakes, keep the skin when they shed and place a good long piece in each in hole. They won't be back. Tried and true!

Old post but ongoing problem. For moles, if you get rid of their favorite food - slugs/grubs - they move on. Learned this decades ago from an old gardening book written by Jerry Baker. He recommended Milky Spore powder. Has worked well for me on various properties. There are also several other products usually offered at your local big box or garden stores to get rid of grubs.
Remove their food source which is grubs. You have to treat the yard for those pests and the moles will move on to your neighbors. 😉
I might have to agree!!.. While I still have Moles and Voles, I finally realized all their tunnels are going towards and around my bird feeders using a smoke bomb and blower. They are going to all the seeds that fall to the ground. Now, I just have to figure out how to feed the hundreds of beautiful wild birds in my area and get rid of the varmints!
Also, I have an acre and have found many large holes/tunnels/cave things at the root of my bushes maybe for skunks, raccoons/? that have also ruined a lot of the garden. Any suggestions there?
