I have the same issue and, thinking it will be very time consuming, doing one room at a time on different days, so I wont feel rushed, laying a damp rag with goo be gone over the pet hair buildup and keep working it until the pet hair comes up , get the floor super clean, then wax again applying 3 to 4 coats . This happened with Bona because our cleaning-team did not get all the pet hair up b/4 waxing. most likely in a hurry.
Hi Linda,
If you want to get all of the polish off the floor, as J Fitgerald said, it will be time consuming. Click below to read a detailed article on how to do this. Wishing you the best.

Ammonia removes wax but the smell/fumes are brutal!
Varsol and fine steel wool will do the trick. Wear a mask and open the windows for plenty of ventilation.
There are many wax remover chemicals on the market, but you must use only those that are safe for hardwood floors. The most important thing is to avoid ammonia or products labeled as wax strippers. Many hardwood floors are sealed with polyurethane or another type of shellac or hard shell finish. Ammonia or wax stripper will cause the hard finishes to melt from the chemical reaction and turn white in tint. Varsol is a paint thinner that will also eat through the finish coat.
