If you are asking about painting plastic you can. There are certain paints for that and it is easy to use. Just clean bucket.....sand a bit and spray.
Go back to the paint shop and choose a green that you like and have them mix up for you. There will be a slight charge for the new color and mixing.
You may not get a good result. Dark colors start with a different base than white.
The most accurate way, is to take it to say Lowe's or Home Depot where they sell and tint paint. Select a paint sample of the color you would like and ask them to tint your white paint to that color. Their machines tell them exactly what colors and amounts of those colors to accurately arrive at the color you want. I doubt they would charge you very much for doing it.
Color formulas have different bases. Take the can to the store and see if it a comparable base to make darker
Add colourant or sample of darker paint than you require, but in the same tone and add to white as required and stir.
I just asked my artist husband and he said you would need 6 gallons of green paint to start with! See if store will take the gallon of white back. The darker color will be more expensive.
Bring your paint to the hardware store and they can help you mix a color in to get the color you want.
I went to HD & they would not sell me the dye. not looking for exact match.
