Mine are really old, not separate cabinets as show above. Here is what I ended up doing..
i bought a gallon of paint called Cabinet Transformations. I think rustoleum makes it. Painted my cabinets dark brown. I spray painted the existing hardware a brushed nickel and I love them!!
I sanded them first. Then used oil based primer that was tinted same color as paint. Then painted with Valspar "Cream in my Coffee". I spray painted the hinges black and changed knobs to simple black round knobs. Haven't replaced the counter yet, but that will come eventually.

I used this primer first and had it tinted to same color as paint.

Then I used this paint which also has primer in it...but you could probably use any paint you want....

It has held up well for almost 6 yrs, with just minor touch-ups (around the knobs) I love the Cream in my Coffee color and use it for all my trim also.
I have a split kitchen/diner,The dining room is cream coloured and i'd like to change the colour on my kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts,the casings are white which i don't want to paint.Any suggestions?

We gutted our whole house, and the cabinets we left the ones that were in the house. Only because we couldn't afford to do the kitchen. so i Painted the white cabinets that were here cream, and i hate them.
