When to plant Day Lilies in Iowa

Barb on Apr 10, 2014You can plant the day lilies in the spring. I do suggest you wait a little longer until the frost is for sure done. I live south of Chicago and snow expected next week, 75 for Saturday.Helpful Reply

Patty on Apr 10, 2014I live in Ky and the rule of thumb here is you plant flowers after derby day which is always the first Sat. in May, but I plant perennials in April especially daylilies, they are so tough, just keep them watered good. I have never lost one even with a late freeze or snow. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Apr 11, 2014You can plant daylilies in spring as soon as you can work the ground and find them for sale. There is no need to wait until after all danger of frost has past with perennials.Helpful Reply
