After you danger of frost has past for established plants.For seed starting six to eight weeks before your last expected frost date
They like the soil to be at least fifty degrees. That is what I was always told. Just make sure it is late enough for these weird cold spells that you have been having in the south to be over for good.
Ask your local USDA extention office. Literally google USDA in lower Alabama and pick the one nearest you. They can give you all sorts of wonderful advice and resources to make sure your gardening is successful.

Planting time is the best time of year! Your Extension office should have lots of good information about planting dates, but you can probably plan on mid March for your area. Just keep an eye on the evening temperatures so your newly planted veggies don't get shocked by a frost. I hope this helps!
