Do you want to remove the hedge, or just trim it?
Call in a Gardener with a Hedgecutter..........
A tractor with a brush cutter depending on the diameter of the trunks. I can take down trees with up to 3" trunks. Leaves a nice mulch. Also consider burning before the sap starts running if practical and allowed by fire code in your area.
Use heavy duty clippers like I did and then dig out the roots, sorry only way.
When we took a old juniper hedge out we hooked a chain around the juniper and attached that to the bumper of an old car and yanked away. Completed removing a 50 foot hedge in under 2 hours.

I would say chainsaw. Or hire someone that can take it down and take it away for a reasonable price...the roots will be the worst part, I’m guessing.
I used an alligator lopper to cut my hedge down to about 10" to let it grow back fuller. If you want to eradicate the hedge, you'd also need to deal with the roots. The alligator lopper was awesome and not scary: https://www.amazon.com/Decker-LP1000-Alligator-4-5-Amp-Electric/dp/B000BANMUY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516815348&sr=8-1&keywords=alligator+lopper+chainsaw
Thank you both 👏🏼 - will def see if there’s an Alligator near here.
