First, whoever you rent the moving truck from will have basic info for you. Next, make sure your passport is up to date. Here are gas trip calculators.

If you have AAA or any roadservice type coverage, they provide maps and trip planners for free, call them.
Here is the Canadian Border Patrol website, everything you need to know while traveling through.

I think the first answer (above) is pretty comprehensive, but I would try to avoid an international border crossing - with a rental vehicle. I was thinking about renting a car to do a day trip to mexico or using our own car and the whole insurance question was very unworkable. We took the tour bus. ALSO I do recommend using the AAA resources.. not to rely exclusively on them, but if you have it, definitely ask them to send you various maps and 'triptiks'.I believe on of my all time favorite maps is a AAA that showed the one way streets in downtown Boston. Sometimes the extra info on a map is just what you want. ALSO there may be border fees/ import duties things like that- where you need a list of your personal posessions or something. ALSO there may be expenses of tolls Try the tollsmart calculators and apps.
Find out what Canada and Alaska won't allow over their borders. Number your boxes and keep a list of what is in each on the boxes, and have a master list that includes the furniture. in case they want to inspect the trailer and vehicle, or god forbid, you get in an accident and need it for insurance purposes. The weight in the trailer will make a difference on the gas mileage, even the temperature outside will make changes in gas mileage.
Number every box. Write a detailed contents list on the top and side of each box. Write a master list, with box numbers and contents. Keep this list handy to show the border crossing guards.
Contact customs to see what papers are required. I would mark the boxes with the contents, such as Kitchen, Living room, etc and also make a list to show the guards, if they ask. Figure out your mileage and then calculate the cost per mile.
I can tell you to be sure everything is itemized for each box, numbered, and on a list on a clipboard. Just plan to be in customs for awhile cause they will inspect the vehicle..... I wouldn't take any guns or pot, cause you will get bounced right back to the states. Any guns, I would seal and ship to Alaska.
If you have a previous DUI you maybe denied entry. Gas right now isn't much past lower 48 prices, but your towing weight which will cost more than just a vehicle. Be sure you have your passport.
