Perhaps paint them the color of the walls to make it blend in with the wall. Another suggestion would be to put up a shelf just above it that will take the eyes off the pipes.
What is Grinding a wall? Anyway -- in my house the horizontal pipes would be full of 'stuff' placed there 'for now'! One idea is to paint them the same color as the wall. Another idea is to go with the "pompidou" museum esthetic and accentuate them rather than even try to hide them! The metal ? pipes I would probably favor installing a shelf Just slightly above them , With the Huge PVC? White pipe I think it is hard to get paint to 'stick' on PVC, so That is more difficult. WIth paint... you can make magic... How about designing some sort of mural scene - such as a woodland or garden and use the existing pipe lines as part of your design. That would be fun.. Maybe the big white pipe is a birch tree and the horizontal pipes are ummm part of a stream in the background?
Is that a painted cinderblock wall? You could possibly get or make some cabinets and take the back out of the cabinet and configure to hide most of the pipes about the sink area. Or build a box to cover and again, you will be able to hide most, but not all. Good luck.

You could try buying some artificial foliage such as ivy and winding it around the pipes to make a really pretty feature of them.
great Idea Cathy
Is that a laundry room in a basement? You could build a faux half wall to cover all the small pipes but the stack will still stick out, paint it to match the wall or cover with matching tape. I would use some hinges on the plywood cover and studs to allow access to the pipes.
I go with Nancy's suggestion. Paint them the color of the wall and a shelf just above them. Color and shelf they'd be hardly noticed. Who doesn't need extra storage anyway.
Once I saw a basement room that had the walls painted white, all the small pipes were painted copper and all the large pipes were painted oil rubbed bronze. Metal shelving was added in a gallery wall fashion around the pipe. It gave the room a nice industrial feel and turned ugly into beautiful!
I'd build a false wall in front of the pipes.
Oh- Thanks- That sounds like a much too drastic operation for me to even consider! What do people do when they need to see the pipes again ever?!
Cover them with piper cover .first paint them with a spray paint silver some thing fun.
you could try covering some of it with pegboard, also practical as you can hang things off it and it needs to be off the wall slightly anyway
What about using light weight panel/curtain. Ive done that before.
I personally would work with them as a design feature rather than try to hide them as I find the latter often makes things worse. I’d paint additional lines the same thickness to make a design or pattern out of it.
Hi Dan: The easiest way would be to paint them the same colour as your house. Heck, I'd paint all of the pipes and whatnot the same colour as the house :)
Use Garden Plastic fence mesh and grow a plant up them.
I also don't know what grinding the wall means. Do the same thing people do to cover ugly beams. Make a nice box of sorts that is beefy and the look of wooden will add warmth to the area.
