You could also consider painting it and not just one solid color. Possibly a simple pattern...something like large diamond shapes. Say you paint the entire floor gray, then, paint the diamonds in white. It depends on what style of house you have. Please do a little research before you decide anything. Hope this helps.

you could use stencils from hardware or home depot which look like stones or brick etc ...using paint! can look great!
