Usually a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water works. Spray it on, wait a few minutes and scrub with an old toothbrush. Labor-intensive, but it should do the trick!
I get down on the floor with water and a toothbrush. My hubby insists on using a mop and it doesn't clean the grout, just leaves dirty water in them to dry. I use hot water and a rag or toothbrush and go over an area, then rinse it with a clean cloth and water and low and behold, the creamy grout shows up from under the dark gray! He didn't believe me when I told him it had light grout. The dirt from feet and four dogs and mopping with the water he never changes made it dark gray.
You can sprinkle baking soda on the grout lines and then spray them down with vinegar and then scrub them really well. Or you can buy a product called Grout Renew which basically repaints the grout lines to look like new again.
