Steel wool the rust off and rub with oil. Washing knives in the dishwasher will not only rust them, it dulls the blade and can destroy the handles.
😊
Hi Joy, Fill a glass with white distilled vinegar. Submerge the knife so that the entire blade is in vinegar. Let it soak for at least five minutes. Take it out and use a sponge to wipe the rust off.
Regardless of what type of knife, we were taught not to place them in the dishwasher. Here are some tips.

Especially true with food prep knives.
A brillo pad will remove rust.
A piece of 0000 steel wool should take it off, then wipe the blade with a soft cloth and a bit of vegetable oil.
Steel wool infused with soap like a brillo pad would easily work.
Thank you
aluminum foil, roll in a small ball and dip in vinegar and scrub
To remove the rust out of your steel knives put them into WD 40 for a while
