location for the plants?
I have a major deer problem and have tried every product and solution I've found and none worked. I have now made raised beds all over my yard using repurposed old fridges and bath tubs. I drill holes in the bottom of the fridges (afer puling out as much insulation as possible) then putting plant debris in the bottom 12-14 inches then filling with screened yard soil. My soil contains a lot of rocks and clay so screening is necessary. I mixed the screened soil with compost, manure and some shredded paper to lighten it up. I then put 5 ft long 3/8" rebar in the corners and along the edges about every 3 ft or so then top off with painted water bottles. I can then drape 7 ft X 1/2 inch mesh deer fence (from Amazon) over the bottles and anchor to the tubs with clothes pins and rocks on the fridges. The deer stick their faces at the plants and back right off. Another bonus the mesh is small enough to keep out cabbage moths and still allow the beneficial insects access. The hardest part was finding someone to remove the freon from the old fridges. I prefer the bathtubs as they aren't so heavy, don't need to be disassembled and come with a drain in the bottom. Just make sure you have the opposite end elevated a bit so it drains freely. I cover the drain hole with screen to keep the soil in and let the excess water out as well as keep out little critters like mice and voles. The fridges and tubs can then be docorated any way you like and it's easy to change the decor if you wish.
