I’m short and can’t bend over to clean baseboards. Hubby can bend but is not motivated to clean baseboards. We compromised with his taking off a length of baseboard with a wide screwdriver to pry the nails off. I lay or prop the board at a good height for me. I clean, sand and paint the board with a dirt resistant, easily cleanable paint. The he nails the board back on with white nails. And I use one of the other hacks to keep the boards clean. ☺️
Wash them with Murphy's oil soap, dry completely. Then put new coat of paint on, will look nice.
P.S. Use high gloss paint
If they are painted (not stained wood), use sudsy ammonia in hot water. Wear gloves. Use a rough scrub rag, like an old wash cloth. For tough spots use a Mr. Clean eraser. DO NOT MIX ammonia with bleach. Causes noxious fumes which can kill. You may have to go over a few times. You may have to rinse. Use a folded towel, old pillow or something to scoot along on the floor, to protect your knees.
