It might be a regional circumstance, I am in zone seven and was told by the sod farm to wait till spring time to put in my zoiysa plugs. You may want to consider checking with your local sod farm for supply and best recommendations for your region

You can lay sod about any time of year, but make sure you do all the prep, and provide drainage and moisture. Best wishes ☺️
Sod can be installed at almost any time of the year. The best time to lay sod, however, is in late summer and early fall when temperatures are cooler but grass continues to grow.
