not sure about the re-planting, but you can use 'slug bait' or the old 'drown them in beer' trick.
you can also raise the plant up in a pot, and rim the top few inches in copper flashing, they don't like copper 'at all'
Are you talking about transplanting a strawberry in a patch or in a pot. I only have my strawberries in hanging pots hanging on shepherds hooks because of the critters that visit our yard. My hostas and other plants the slugs and other critters like to dine on, I use Cayenne pepper and shredded Irish Spring soap and Crushed egg shells for the slugs. It all worked pretty well for me.
Pour some beer in a metal pie pan. They will drink it and the salt in the beer will kill them.
